- Training in-kennel dogs. This is a program where the owners leave their dog to be trained in an intense, daily training program.
- I teach group classes in Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Home Manners, and preparation for the Canine Good Citizen test. (C.G.C.)
- I teach private, in-home lessons in which I work with the dog, then teach the client how to do the training. These lessons also consist of ways to solve those annoying problems like jumping, digging and counter surfing. Management is a big part of curtailing most nuisance behaviors and will be discussed during these lessons.
- Trainer to train in-home is another option available. With these lessons I train your dog at your home several days a week, verses a long stay at the kennel. The trainer is doing the work instead of the owner. Periodically, there is a lesson with the owner to transfer the information and authority role from the trainer to the owner.
I am proud to say I have earned the title of Certified Pet Dog Trainer (C.P.D.T.) certified by Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Requirements to pass the National exam include proficiency in animal husbandry, ethnology, learning theory, instruction skills and training equipment. To maintain my certification, I must earn continuing education points annually which keep me up to date on the latest and most proficient training techniques. I frequently attend lectures and clinics by the most well know trainers in the industry.
During its existence, I was involved as a dog trainer with Dog Partners, the first organization based in Orange County to train service dogs for the many mobility challenged people in need. I graduated as a Certified Service Dog Trainer. I now work with people who wish to train their own dogs to perform as service dogs for their own very specific needs.
I have two Australian Shepherds of my own that I train and compete with in Obedience, Rally Obedience and Agility. We have earned placement ribbons and titles in all, including a first place in 20” Jumpers at the 2004 Australian Shepherd Nationals out of a class of 151 dogs! In addition I am learning sheep herding and hope someday to add tracking to our repertoire.
I have no doubt we can create a program just right for you and your dog. I look forward to an opportunity to meet with you and discuss your personal dog training needs.
